Glasgow Girls Day

We all love a girls day, right?

There’s something a bit exciting about spending a day with your BFF,  Mum, long-lost Sister, uni bud or whoever you love. A day dedicated to gossiping, pampering and maybe a little bit of a tipple too if you’re that way inclined of course…

So, we thought for our first post we would review 2 of Glasgow’s newest and quirkiest spots to give your next girls day out a little bit of a kick!

Every girls constant dilemma is not lost on girls day…  ‘What am I going to wear??’.  Here’s what we opted for, for our casual nail and lunch date…

I wore- Shirt- Zara, Bowtie- Asos, Ripped faded jeggings- Zara, Quilted espadrilles- Steve Madden

Emma wore- Acid wash denim shirt- Primark, Jeans- Joni from TopShop, Statement Necklace- TopShop, Boots- New Look.

OK, outfit sorted.  Let’s get this show on the road by getting those paws in shape, shall we?  Follow me…

We have a salon that will just about knock your socks off (it definitely will if you go for a pedi, obvz).  Introducing NAF! Salon…

From the second you walk in and are greeted by the bombshell owner Tammy and her French Bulldog Betty, you will immediately forget that any other salons in the world exist.  This place instantly welcomes you with its SUPER cute interiors, HUGE windows and quirky vibes.  The layout is completely open plan so even if you all opt for different treatments, the gossip doesn’t have to stop.  Tammy and the girls are all so friendly, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve been friends forever!

NAF! Salon opened roughly 6 weeks ago on Waterloo Street and has had such an incredible response that appointments are absolutely necessary, so do yourself and your girls a favour by booking in advance!  If you’re really lucky, you might just get to play around with this little scamp as you wait in the (adorable) Reception Area.

They offer everything from a simple file & polish to cheeseburger and broccoli nail decals.  The nail world is your oyster here so let your imagination run wild!  I opted for a simple baby blue gel with freehand white stripes and a cute little love heart, and let me tell you, I am in LOVE!

They also offer hair extensions, make up applications and a henna body artist.  Again, call ahead to avoid disappointment!  Owner Tammy has really created a little piece of girly heaven in Glasgow and we know you gals will love it!

Now we’re lookin fly….I’m getting kinda hungry….

Sugar Dumplin situated in Princes Square is a Caribbean BBQ & Bar and again, the experience starts when you first set eyes on it….

Immediately you are transported into a Caribbean escape and this place really is a treat for ALL of the senses.  The sounds of Bob Marley, the scents of jerk chicken and spices and the explosion of colour that really just makes you smile.  You can choose to sit in the dining area, or cosy up with your gals on the comfy sofas with blankets and get one of the cute and tasty cocktails (and let me tell you…they aint shy with the rum either).

We opted for a relatively civilised lunch where I had the buttermilk fried jerk spiced chicken breast burger with sweet potato fries and Emma had the BBQ jerk chicken breast wrap with sweet potato fries and red slaw.  Honestly when they arrived they looked too good to eat!  We broke down that barrier pretty fast though and got stuck in…

Accompanying your food will be the 4 signature sauces of Sugar Dumplin-

Nyam Nyam (to eat and eat)- Sugar Dumplin’s house mayo with garlic, lime and jerk spices

Irie- Fruity and ginger with some all spice berries

Craven- Medium heat, with peppers, smoked chillies, garlic and tomato (for those who like it hot…but not too hot!)

Finally the big daddy, Lawd a massi-  described as ‘a full on assault of scotch bonnet chillies’  to satisfy even the hottest of ladies!

The food is excellent and the vibe from this place really suits any mood which makes it the perfect venue for your girly day out! Let us know what you’ve tried (cocktails, food) as we will DEFINITELY be back here for dinner and cocktails!

You ladies have fun now…

Kirsty & Emma
