Make Up Must Have’s

Love to look your best? Do you always experiment with new products but find you have that one thing you end up going back to time and time again because nothing quite compares?

Me too!

Kirsty and I wanted to share a few of our beauty ‘go to’ products for you to try… and don’t worry they wont break the bank. All of our favourite make up bits are so affordable… with maybe one or two treats too.

Lads, this one may not be for you, but we can guarantee that every lady (your girlfriend, wife, sister, mum) likes recieving make up as a wee treat so take note! (P.s, dont buy foundation as a present, I guarantee you will pick the wrong shade!)

I’ll go first…

So you’ve cleansed, toned and moisturised and your feeling fresh. Oh wait, what’s with the dark circles under your eyes?

My first make up fav is this Lasting Perfection Concealer by Collection 2000.

It has excellent coverage and is definitely more than capable of disguising a bad night sleep. It claims up to 16 hour wear; maybe slightly optimistic. However, small and compact its easy to throw inside any hand bag for a touch up during the day. It is available in a range of shades, I wear Cool Medium, 2.

Next up, wether your off to work or heading out with the girls, a nude lipstick is a must have in everyones make up bag.

I’m currently loving Kate Moss by Rimmel in the shade Rouge A Levres which is number 45. I usually pair this with a similarly toned lip liner too, Tiramisu 050 also by Rimmel is a perfect match.

Long eyelashes are not something I was blessed with unfortunately and as much as I love fake lashes, they are not always practical so when I stumbled across Benefits Roller Lash I fell in LOVE!

At around £20 its a bit more that I’d like to spend but I promise its worth it. It claims to “lift lashes”, check! It claims to give “long-lasting curl”, check! It also claims to make “eyes look more wide open”, check! It’s AMAZING, and you must try it.

My 3 favourites are available to buy in Boots.

Ok, it’s over to you Kirsty…

Ok, ok… I must admit that I am the type of girl who likes a fair amount of make up no matter what I’m doing. Red lip to jump to the supermarket? Yes.  Contouring on point to take my kitten to the vet? Uh huh! It just makes me feel good and puts an extra little spring in my step, so here are a couple of my ride or die products that I cannot and will not live without…

First up, we gotta get that skin evened out…

My saving grace no matter how partied out I am is without a doubt Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup with a sneaky wee spf10 incase your worried about sun damage. This stuff is INCREDIBLE. For some who maybe aren’t used to a full coverage, this may feel a bit much for day to day, but fear not, they also do a Double Wear light for the same price (£25). This stuff is so amazing that even if you party all night, you’ll still look pretty fresh faced when the sun starts to come up! I speak from experience, and would I lie to you? Of course not!

I pair this bad boy with a bit of Mac Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder (£20.50). I dust it over once I have my base, AFTER my foundation but BEFORE my highligher (don’t want to dull that sparkle!) This powder is super fine so don’t go in too heavy handed and your little pot of powder will last you for months!

Now lets get our sparkle on shall we?

Ever since Kim K came smashing into our lives highlighted to perfection, I have been searching for the perfect highlighter. I haven’t found highlighter bae yet, BUT I have got a nifty little combo that wont break the bank and will offer a little somethin’ somethin’ no matter what skin type you have…

For under eye highlighting, again I’m gonna go for Mac Prep + Prime Hightlighter (£19). For me this is under eye only as it really lightens without that sheen of say, YSL Touche Eclat (I’ve tried and tried to love this but I just don’t). This little pen will fade away any dark circles and finished off with the Transparent Powder will stay put ALL NIGHT LONG!

For cheekbones that look dewy and fancy I mix a little tried and tested combo- Start off with Benefit Watts Up (£24.50) a soft focus champagne highlighter (thats real life Instagram filter to you and I) that starts creamy and ends up powdery- top tip with this is BLEND BLEND BLEND!  Put some muscle behind it girl, you’ll thank me later!

Since I have combination skin I prefer powders rather than creams, so to balance out the creaminess of Watts Up, I finish it off with a little sweep of Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Brick (£4.99) This is a serious budget buy and kinda stole its name from the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick  (£33) but at over £20 of a price difference, I definately ain’t mad at them!

Now, anyone who knows me in real life will know that every day, without fail, no matter the circumstances…I WILL have a winged eye. I love it, I live for it and I am not gonna change anytime soon.  I get asked quite alot what my favourite liquid liners are and I am about to let you in on the absolute best kept secret beauty budget buy and my ULTIMATE beauty go to…brace yourselves ladies…

Miss Sporty Pump Up Booster Waterproof Eyeliner (£2.79) yeah honey you read it right, £2.79! This is the be all and end all of liquid liners and I refuse to back down on this! I stumbled across this little baddie when I ran out of (a ridiculously expensive) liner and needed a 1 day product until I got to town the following day. This little blue tube is now my favourite piece in my make up bag! Doesn’t fade (all nighter, NO WORRIES), doesnt crack and I’ve even cried with this on, and it still looked BRILLIANT! Buy it, try it, love it. What’ve you got to lose?

There you have it ladies! Now let’s be clear, Emma and I have tried and tested alot of makeup…and I mean ALOT! So we really hope you enjoy these products and they make you feel as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside! Let us know if you have any Make Up Must Haves and we can feature it in our next beauty round up post!

Love Emma & Kirsty x
