Sometimes, aint nothin that will hit the spot quite like a slap up Thai meal.  If you’re in Glasgow or Edinburgh, your first stop for top notch Thai, is Chaophraya.

Last week I got invited to a sneak peek preview of the brand spankin new menu and honey, it did not disappoint!

First up, let’s wet our whistle with a wee wine and cocktail combo…

This wee beauty was the Mango Passion and its Absolute Mango vodka, mango, coconut, lime and vanilla- it was a dream- highly recommend! Now let’s get out starters on!

I went for the Thai Chicken Tacos- red curried chicken with coconut milk, sweet but a hint of a kick

These little bite sized tacos were deeeeelish- not too heavy and the perfect start to what I knew was gonna be 3 courses of pure smashing-ness!

My girl T went for the chicken satay- I had a little nibble and again, perfection!

Now, if you get free reign of a menu you KNOW you gettin steak baby! Anyone who goes to Chaophraya will ALWAYS talk about the Weeping Tiger- now don’t panic here…but it’s no longer on the menu! Fear not though sugar tits…what they’ve replaced it with will have ya swooning…

This my friends is the Chamber Aged 8oz Sirloin Steak- she’s a beaut! 

The steak comes sliced and raw and you cook it yourself on a Himalayan rock salt block- such a cool experience and means you get it just the way you like EVERY TIME! It was EXSQUISITE!

If ya don’t fancy the pressure of cooking your own dinner, I’d recommend the sirloin steak with panang sauce

I always go medium rare and OH EM GEE this baby was heavenly.  Literally melt in your mouth, butter soft and quite honestly I was gutted when I finished it.

Pre- dessert we fired into the cocktail menu and got no joke the coolest cocktails you have EVER seen!

TEMPLE OF DAWN Smoked – Whitley Neil Gin, Cherry Marnier, Almond, Maraschino, Lemon

Pour the decanter over the drink and it starts smoking!!! So cool!!! You can really taste the cherry and it’s got a hell of a kick- LOVED! But not as much as this badboy- behold, The Mockingbird…

In a Cage – Jinzu Gin, Maraschino, Pink Grapefruit Juice, Cherry, Soda.

The drink comes inside a birdcage- legit a full birdcage!!! It is without a doubt the prettiest drink I have ever or will ever see! It tasted pretty spectacular aswell!

DESSERT TIIIIIIIIIME!

I got the White Chocolate Box

Served with raspberry coulis, a macaroon and a wee bit of meringue- I was STUFFED but I just couldn’t stop eating this…

T went for the Sticky Toffee Pudding- you can’t go wrong…

From start to finish, this meal, the atmosphere in the restaurant, the drinks- it was just fantastic.  The time and effort in creating a perfect menu with drinks to compliment really shines through and creates an experience that you will not soon forget!

It aint cheap- but if your celebrating something nice with Bae, it’s the perfectly romantical setting.  Or if you just wanna take your best girl and treat yo’selves- I say DO IT!
