A Braw Wee Post about The Braw Wee Fair

When we think of The Barras, we think of pirate dvd’s and ‘less than legitimate’ cigarettes…don’t you? Let’s change that…

It’s been going since the turn of the century and is one of Glasgow’s most iconic and must-be-seen-to-be-believed hot spots.

Today we’re taking you on a little trip to The Barras for The Braw Wee Fair; a fair filled with arts, crafts, vintage, music and food and the best part is it’s all from the hands of home grown Scottish talent! This was only the second month of the Fair but if you wanna get your hands on these local goodies, it reopens on the first Saturday of every month.

Let’s shop, shall we?

We stumbled on Marie Savage, a lady who is bringing all natural cleaning products to the lucky people of Scotland.  She’s been trading since Feb this year and we were in love with the Soft Cleaning Paste, a houshold cleanser that keeps your home fresh and clean without that horrible bleachy, hospital- clean vibe…

If you wanna get your house in check in the humblest of ways, you can get your hands on these goodies at www.humblestuff.com or on www.facebook.com/humblestuffscotland

Now your house is squeaky clean, let’s sort out that lovely body of yours huh?

Ermana Natural Skincare launched only a month ago and is bringing no water, concentrated vitamin goodness to your face, body and tootsies.  This was Emma’s favourite stall and we gotta admit, everything smelled AMAZING!  From the facial oil, to the muscle balm, the products for men and women are absolutely amazing and ranging from £9- £28, we’d say you’re getting a steal! I also took note of the Mamma Balm for a mummy-to-be I know as the packaging was perfection!

You Are My Sunshine, is the cutest handmade vintage-inspired candles and crafts stall you will ever see…candles in a teacup? YES PLEASE!

The coolest stall for me was Chris Masson Creates.  This dude hand crafts characters out of wood and makes them into the most intricate cufflinks, badges and cards you have ever seen….

Head on over to http://www.facebook.com/chrismassoncreates and pick yourself up some Heisenberg cufflinks (Christmas for my Dad is SORTED!)

Looking like it stepped right out of my colouful little brain was Tylers Attic.  Quite honestly the cutest and most flamboyant blend of lampshades, cushions and cards.  Emma’s already picked out a couple of cushions for her new (yet to be purchased) house.  Some of these pieces would really make a room pop…and who doesn’t love a stag in a pair of specs?

Glasgow Girl is hitting us up with some Scottish-isms (pretty confident that’s not a word) tote bags, jewellery, prints and offers custom designs if you wanna ask.  My personal faves were the ‘Taps Aff’ tote and the MD20/20 bunting is a must for my next house party!

Emma Neale Handmade is custom baby kit for only the COOLEST of kids.  Cactus print teething rings, Cat print bows, bibs and everything else your baby needs! I especially loved her fox printed baby quilt, truly adorable! .  She also told me she loves doing one-off custom pieces so if you fancy some baby couture, then give her a shout at

Last but not least is The Braw Wee Emporium which is a permanent fixture in The Barras.  A cool wee music and gift shop serving up some mugs, towels and cards sprinkled with a little bit of  Scottish charm.

All in all, we had a brilliant time searching around the stalls and finding some one-off pieces by some of Scotland’s most creative wee diamonds.

Get involved the first Saturday of every month at the Barras Art and Design building, free entry and great day out!

See ya all there next time!
