We have all seen lip filler go wrong…totally wrong…like, ALL THE WAY wrong so I wanna tell you some top tips and what to expect when you go under that wonderful syringe to keep you safe and looking flawless baby!

I remember one time about 6 years ago, I was slightly* inhebriated and fell out of a taxi on to the cold, hard, gravelly ground like a tonne of bricks.  The next morning I woke up to a black eye, cuts ALL OVER my face and big, juicy, gorgeous,swollen lips- every cloud eh?

As you probably are aware if you read my skincare or beauty blogs, I’ll try pretty much anything but getting fillers was something I was a little apprehensive about- What if I hate it? What if it goes wrong? What if I look like Donatella Versace after? What if my lip explodes? (You can see how my mind gradually goes to the ridiculous but hey, I’ve watched enough Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to know that SOMETIMES, money can’t buy you beauty! *I’m lookin at you, Rinna)

Soooo, let’s move on to what to expect when you’re expecting King Ky lipsssss.

BEFORE- thin, unpouty. BORING. where even IS my top lip????

So I opted for 1ml of Juvederm, the filler is made up of hyaluronic acid (which your body creates naturally) so after about 6-9 months the filler will have completely dissolved naturally- perfecto!

-REAL TALK MOMENT- even with the numbing cream, you are definately gonna feel some sting. ESPECIALLY on the outer lines of your top lip. Darlin, that shit stings like a muhfucker so brace yourself for watery eyes and liquid eyeliner NOT on fleek afterwards.

BOOM! You’re done, you’ve pouted your way home and now lets get a look at these baddies- Hey bruising, nice to see ya…

Not gonna lie, I did panic slightly when they were first done. When I spoke, they moved differently and were really painful for prob about 3 days if I pursed my lips together- so don’t worry if you feel the same!

Also I bruise easily so u may not see as much as I did. Mine took about 1 week to fully go down but could be covered with a matt nude lippie ❤

The next morning I woke up and I was HORRIFIED! My face looked…different. I naturally have big features- big eyes, a big nose but JEEZ LOUISE these LIPS! I panicked- I almost called in ‘ugly’ to work and I wrapped a scarf around my face on the train in shame. I WAS BOTCHED!!!!

Day 1- lashes to work to make my features look less tiny in comparison to my cantaloupe lips. I know I look ridiculous here, but it’s all to help YOU not freak out if you decide to go for it!

Everyone in work LOVED them and I didn’t.  I didn’t really realise that I liked my face (despite 47193858391 selfies) until I changed it a little. I regretted the lips. But that was only day 1. Over the next couple of days they settled and became my favourite things in LIFE! Every lipstick was BANGIN’, every selfie a DREAM. Ladies, I am in love!!!!!! Even makeup-less I feel more confident! 

Once these badboys deflate I will DEFINATELY be getting juvederm again. My advice is this though- Build it. you can get as little as 0.55ml of juvederm (thats really only for maybe a top lip fill) so don’t go crazy from the jump. 1ml made a huge difference for me and now I feel like if you didn’t know I had them (or I hadn’t just bared my secret to the world in blog form) you probably wouldn’t know straight away. 

My first tip is this babes, Word of mouth is worth its weight in gold. Chances are you know someone who’s got filler,  ask them where they went and what their experience was? That’s what I did and it made me feel a WHOLE lot safer about the whole thing. Honey, you know ME! I’ll help you!

Top tip number 2. Ask Questions. Prior to my appointment I started to panic so I mailed the company to ask some questions about the look I wanted to achieve. Again, this really gave me piece of mind that they knew their stuff and I wasn’t gonna come out looking like an absolute roaster (which I did but I didn’t realise that’s pretty much a given for the first day!)

Top tip number 3. DON’T cheap out. This is your face babes. Primark on your body is great, but ‘Primark’ level filler aint cute, don’t chance it!

So there you have it sugarplum. I’m almost certain I’m gonna get a little heat for promoting some form (even if it is temp) of plastic surgery. YES, beauty is skin deep but hey, aslong as you’re safe and happy- YOU DO YOU!
